I am trying to use Teamspeak for Linux (www.goteamspeak.com), but my microphone will not pick up anything. The mike works on my windows machine, so I know the microphone is working. I also tried to use the sound recorder, but when I press record, the cursor on the timeline doesn't move. It just stays at zero. I have checked the volume control. My mike's volume is up, and I've tried with both the Rec. box checked and unchecked, but with no avail. The microphone has worked with Teamspeak previously, but it not longer does. I am thinking that maybe I have a setting wrong. The soundcard is detected right; I can hear sounds. Where else can I check for microphone settings?

Thanks,

You need to use a mixer program, I think. Like kmix or if you are using alsa alsamixer on the command line. You need to make sure that your mic is set to "capture" and that the capture setting is also activated and not muted. With my card I couldn't get the mic to work until I set in kmix advanced settings to have the "Mic as Center/LFE" activated as well. I have no idea what that is.
