I use mandrake 7.2 and have 256 MB RAM and my kernel is filled with large amounts of junk that i dont want. In redhat linux, you can edit your kernel by doing the kernel configuration program. On mandrake though, i dont know of any way to hack my kernel and edit things that fill my memory. Does anybody know the Bash command for a program to hack the kernel with?
the only way i know to hack the kernel is edit the source code (eesh!), and compile it....or just configure it with /usr/src/linux/make xconfig while running an x session...and then compile the changes into a new kernel

Download the kernel source code from http:/www.kernel.org , and then read the NHF on compiling a new kernel http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel
