Hello,
Does anyone know a more efficient way to stop a laptop than "apm -s"? This takes power away at about 3%/20 minutes on my machine, and I know that using windows I used to be able to basically save the state of the machine, and it would turn itself off (virtually no battery loss then), then it could turn itself back on w/o rebooting.

Thank you!

The is an energy saving feature in Linux. Mandrake (which is the distro I am using) has a whole slew of setup options. It is APM, but, supposedly it saves whatever state in you are in.
