proftp what did i do?

okay so i had proftp set up and it was working fine.
I was not happy with the fact that users could see most of my system, so I followed the instructions on this link, now i get socket connected, but no connection ever happens. What did i do?

Did you copy hayl's config file verbatim? Maybe posting yours will help...

ill post it when i get home, but yes i used it verbatim, except i did eliminate the UPLOAD folder part because users are not currently going to be able to upload. and of course i used different use names. i have tried connecting across the net and locally.

guess thats not exactly verbatim
