forget i asked this question........i just went down a few lines and read about "running linux" which was the title i was looking for.

its is all based on the flavor of linux u will be using. I got Redhat Linux Bible for RedHat 5.2 through 6.2, it runs 50$ where and when I got it. In my personal opinion which is the only one I have, it is a nice book to put by the john crapper.

I'd definitly reccomend "Running Linux." Its a great introduction to the way things are done in linux, concentrating on basic system administration and usage. It is a bit dated though, but most of the info inside will be appliciable to todays distros. Just don't expect it to teach you how to use USB or recompile the 2.4 kernel ;)

I'd recommend picking up a couple books related to Unix, *then* moving on to some Linux books.

That's what I did, and it certainly hasn't hurt my Linux skillz (then again, I started with a BSD, so...)
