I'm having this weird problem. I'm running slack 7.1 with the 2.4.1 kernel. I'm on a 56k dialup connection. When I go in and edit my /etc/ppp/options file and set my MRU and MTU to 552 (which is where I get the best performance) linuxnewbie.org won't load. But when I go in and comment the MRU and mtu out again it will load but then they default to 1500 and then I get really crappy network performance. Anyone have any ideas for this?? Thanks.

One thing it could be. BETA
Ultimate Bulletin Board 6.0, Beta 8.4
Others have reported different problems since the board was upgraded.

Have they reported this specific problem though or has anyone else had this problem over a dialup connection??

Sorry. Can't remember if that was the problem specifically.
When LNO won't load, how about other sites or is it just Linuxnewbie.org?
If only LNO, then it could be a site problem. If it happens with others, then it's your settings etc.

Oh, I just remembered reading something about cookies. Ensure your cookies are enabled.

I had a strange problem here this morning.. All the folder icons next to the messages turned into the "linuxnewbie.org" banner (the one you see on top of this page). It pushed the tables all out of alignment and made everything a chore to read.
I never tried clearing my cache to see if that was the problem, never had time. But it doesn't happen on the computers here in the lab (RH62, NS476).

Yes, cookies are enabled and I haven't found any other sites that won't load up, but that's not to say that there isn't any.

LNO seems to have been slow to load for me at work on my T1 off and on for a few days. Might be a site problem?

Well, I just get a timeout message when I type in the LNO url. Here's something interesting though. I tried telneting to www.linuxnewbie.org (http://www.linuxnewbie.org) on port 80 and I could connect just fine and issue HTTP requests. So I'm not sure what is happening. Any other ideas.
