I am connected to the internet like this:

Internet
|
V
Cable Modem
|
V
Wireless Router
|
V
My Computer

(see the attached picture for details)

My Computer runs Windows XP and connects to the router wirelessly (they're on different floors.)

I have another computer, running Linux, that I want to connect to the internet; otherwise its useless to me. I cannot find a wireless card that will work on linux, nor do I want to set one up. Ethernet works fine, though.
I have a free NIC on my Windows box and I want to connect the Linux one to the internet through my Windows box's wireless connection. I have tried several things, including but not limited to a proxy server, internet connection sharing, and network bridging, but I didnt know networking well enough to make them work.
Can you tell me what I can do to connect the Linux box to the internet?

Thanks in advance,
Josh

This (http://www.desktoplinux.com/cgi-bin/board/UltraBoard.pl?Action=ShowPost&Board=sysadmin&Post=19&Idle=0&Sort=0&Order=Descend&Page=3&Session=) should work out for you pretty well. You will need what is called a crossover cable, you can pick one up at Circuit City (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Belkin-CAT5e-Crossover-Patch-Cable--A3X126A-10-YLW-M-/sem/rpsm/oid/98124/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do) for about $10 usd. This howto should work pretty well for you, however, in the future you should tell us stuff like your Linux Distribution, Kernel, and other information you think is relevant.

internet connection sharing with a crossover cable should work correctly.

I've done it the opposite way, basically using my windows computer as a wireless access point.
