I am having the time of my life getting flash to work in konqueror. I have tried all the how-to's I can get my hands on however when I get to a page with flash...no die.

In netscape it works fine....but who wants to use netscape?

I am using Mandrake 8.0. I have downloaded the flash player from Macromedia's site, unpacked it and put it in the netscape plugin folder, as the how-to's I have been able to find have told me to, I have set the Java path in Konqueror settings, and enabled plugins....but still no die...

Can someone with Mandrake 8 please explain to me where the .so, and .class files need to go in order for me to use flash in linux?

Thanks allot!!!!

You need to install the kdebase-nsplugins rpm.

Make sure you have lesstif installed. Then run nsplugin scan. Restart konqueror. That should work.

Okay,

I downloaded the rpm's and installed the lestif package, and the nsplugin package, upon running nspluginscan I get the following output.

[root@server downloads]# nspluginscan
kdecore (KLibLoader): WARNING: library=/usr/lib/netscape/plugins/cpPack1.jar: file

And needless to say flash still doesnt work in Konqueror....dont give up on me yet guys!!!

Thanks for the help thus far (that's by no means a signal to let up!).

If you're using MDK8, start the Software Manager and search for 'nsplug'. You should get one match. Install it and SM will fix any dependencies you have.

I do this every time I install MDK and have never had a problem with it.

If you downloaded the packages from somewhere else, you may have to remove them before you can install the one on the CD.

The only way I can see the method I've described not working is if you've upgraded some software (KDE for instance).

You should ALWAYS check you're distro's CDs before downloading any packages from the net. Usually the packages on the CDs always work, so they're you're best bet.

Good luck!

It is a MDK8 install...I had to download the nsplugin rpm from the net because I dont have a working copy of the second disk of the distro and the nsplugin is not on Disk one as far as I know....

Where can I find MDK8 Disk one?

Did you mean where can you find disk #2?

I have it burned off somewhere.. If you want it bad enough I can rip it.

Yes that's what I mean :D

No worries, I installed 8.1, and this time downloaded all the CD's and got flash working!
