linux and pentium 4?

how does linux run on a pentium 4 with rdram? is it just install and play or do i have to do a kernel recompile with alot of changed settings. i plan to run rh 7.2.

It'll run fine. No really _need_ to recompile or anything. Just install and you'll be ready to go.

Should work fine right out of the box. The P4 uses the same instructions that the whole x86 processor line uses.
