I recently installed Fedora3 on an older computer (P3 500MHz) and I got apache running fine. I just have a few questions about the site I'm going to be hosting on my server.

Do I have to setup a DNS server on my machine to make it so that when someone types in my domain it doesn't show my ip when they get redirected from my domain forward? For example, when I type in www.example.com, it goes to my site, but it shows my ip when it goes to my site. I currently have my domain registered and set to forward to my ip.

Also, could someone direct me to a good source on setting up ftp so that I can author my site from a windows machine or remotely. I've hunted all over the place and haven't found very good info on ftp. I want it to work just like it does when you pay for hosting. You type in your domain, and it shows your domain, not the ip in the address bar.

Thanks in advance. :)

All the advice I have is:
Don't use ftp for remote authoring. Use ssh.
