Xmule and LowID

Yes i have researched.
I have a ubuntu box (mostly up and runnign) which is connected to a simple hub(not a router or switch or anything just a hub) which is uplinked to my debian box. A firewall is running on my debian box but Port 4662 and 4672 are both opened and forwarded to my ubuntu box. Everywhere I look it says the cause of lowID is those two ports being closed but they are open.
I also tried the two commands:
iptables -I INPUT 1 -i ppp0 -p tcp --dport 4662 -j ACCEPT
and
iptables -I INPUT 1 -i ppp0 -p tcp --dport 4672 -j ACCEPT
on the ubuntu box. I am trying to get Xmule to work on the ubuntu box but it can't connect to any servers. I got all the addresses from http://www.edonkey2000.com/ . The exact log is :

I would first check the port settings in edonkey, and change those to something a little better, like 8080. If there is a firewall on the debian box why not just open up all the ports on the ubuntu. That would most likely solve your problems.

you have opened ports 4662 and 4672 in you routers NAT configuration?

If thats the case or your connection doesnt use NAT, then i have no idea.

If you have NAT then you really dont need an additional firewall as your router will work as one. To change nat settings look at your routers manual.

The ports are opened. I also tried changing the ports to 8080,80, and 3128(my proxy server's port) none of them worked.I don't have a nat.

Emule works in WIndows 2000 but Xmule doesn't in Ubuntu.

Sorry that i didn't read your post more carefully at first try. I had a similar problem to yours just recently.

When you try to connect and servers start kicking you out check the server info (there should be a tab right next to your user info in xmule's server screen IIRC)

If servers give you message:
"zlib must be used not only advertised"

Then your problem is same as mine.


I got an impression that it had something to do with outdated versions of amule and xmule which apt-get offers. I solved the problem by getting the newest version of amule sources:

xMule has been dead for a while, and the client is probably being rejected because the version is too old. Go with aMule instead.
