Hello there. Thanks for taking the time to read this message. ;)

I've spent several days (and nights !) trying to install my BeWan ADSL USB ST modem under Linux Debian (Sarge) with a 2.6.10 kernel (self-compiled).

First, I had a problem compiling the drivers for the modem. In the unicorn_usbdrv.c source file, urb->timeout is used, but the compiler tells me the timout member does not exist in the urb structure. So I made some changes to the driver source and it compiled without any problem.

Next step, loading the module. It does load, and the PWR led of my modem does turn green, but... The SYNC blinks, then stays red for a while, then blinks again... and the LINK led stays off. I have this in my syslog:

Then it keeps cycling between IDLE, INITIALIZING, ACTIVATING...

First, none of the tutorials I found mentionned that the modem would be in the "HANDSHAKING" state at any time. Then, this "SPURIOUS ATU DETECTED" is obviously not normal. There's also this "0.8.6" version number that appears while I have the "0.8.7" version of the drivers, but I don't think this is doing anything.

Concerning the "SPURIOUS ATU DETECTED" problem, some wesbites suggested to use the G.lite modulation rather than the Gdmt modulation, but it didn't change anything. Anyway, I should use the Gdmt.

I think I'm out of ideas... If anybody could help me, even just a bit, I'd be very grateful to him.

Thanks in advance.

There is really nothing I can do ? :( That modem is the only thing that prevent me from getting rid of Windows...
