I am going to netwrok my 2 home pc's.
One is a linux box, the other windows.
I am looking for advice on:
Wireless vs.
Ethernet vs.
Phoneline.......
and also D-Link vs. Linksys vs. Netgear.
Any help/advice is appreciated.

Might be better if you find out which ones are supported by your distro and if not, are there any drivers available that are easily installed.
D-Link, Netgear and Linksys? I have a D-Link 8-port 10/100 Switch that works great. A couple of friends have the same, but with Netgear and Linksys. They both swear by theirs.
Me:
1 P-III (Linux)
2 P-IIs (Window$)
Netgear RT-314 10/100 4-port gateway router
(connected to @home cable modem)
Netgear FA-311 and SMC net cards
You could also take the "routerless" approach and use the Linux box as your gateway to the 'Net.
