Well, I've been on the PC all my life, and I am trying to see what the hype is about, but so far I haven't gotten much further than a distored KDE desktop in Red Hat 7. I didn't think of that maliciously...the thought just popped in my mind

OK, OK, you know what I mean. What I mean is, out of my whole life I haven't used anything else but a PC. Used a Mac a few times, got BeOS personal but it sucked so I deleted it, I just started playing with Linux.

just keep in mind, that if linux was as easy as windows everyone would use it, you can do everything in linux that you can do in windows, just give linux time and it will come to you, trust us.

thanks for the informed/informative/helpful review of BeOS
i just started using it, now since an expert has declared that it sux, i will just format the hard drive and load windows 3.1 (hey, didn't somebody here say they have a copy of windows 2.0? yeah, it was NGene, she hasn't been around much, musta got another phone bill  )
anyway thanks alot for saving me all that time i was gonna spend using BeOS, my life will be much better, i am so sure!

1) Well since the operating system supported virtually none of my hardware or software, what am I supposed to think of it?
2) Why would you put Windows 3.1 on?
3) If it supports nothing, what is so great about it...something I don't know?
This isn't a rant...it's humor

Yeah, it's humor (i guess) but it still doesn't belong in this forum. It should belong to off-topic. This is for general linux questions. Did this make sense? Maybe I need to post it from winblows so your PC can decypher it.

I must agree with FoBoT, thanks JP Balletta for the helpful review of BeOS. Now I know for sure that I'll never even try it out because an expert thinks it sux.
BTW FoBoT, it was Win 2.1... but since this computer expert came to LNO and gave us the valuable information that Linux and BeOS sux, I will delete Linux, install a 5 1/4" floppy drive and then install Win 2.1 :p
...and yes, I still keep getting those stupid phone bills... :(
One thing just popped into my mind... maybe JP Balletta doesn't like Linux and BeOS because he doesn't meet the user requirements?! Although Linux doesn't require much, the user requirements are still age>10 yrs and IQ>60 ... maybe that's why the only OS he can ever use is Windows?

1) Who said I was an expert?
2) My IQ is way over 60 and I am a lot older than 10...maybe I don't have as much experience with Linux as you do and I'd like to learn, but I'm not stupid by any means
3) I am not an expert and never claimed I was one, just giving my opinion...hoping someone could be helpful but NOOOOO

</STRONG>
here is a novel idea
i read about BeOS and then asked some BeOS dudez about it
found out that hardware support is limited
so instead of just trying to load it onto an "unsupported" platform/boxen (duh!), i built a new boxen with parts that are supported, gee what a novel concept, make sure the OS i want to try/check out will work with the hardware. i guess you expect the OS company/developers to come over to your house and install it for you too. maybe they should just stick around and wipe your @ss for you when you take a dump
be a little proactive and figure out the right way to use something instead of b!tching about how this Os or that OS didn't spoon feed you through everything, sheesh!
and this is a rant and doesn't belong in general, i agree that flaming/ranting can be and usually is funny, do some searches on old threads, we have many that are histerical

1) I read your posts and thought that only an expert could post something like you did. :p :p
2) If you really like to learn, remember that you sometimes need more patience to learn Linux than to learn Windows. You can't learn everyhting about Linux in one day. If you get problems, just post proper questions to "General Linux Questions", "Techical Support" etc and surely ppl here will try to help you out.
3) You were giving an opinion and now I'm also giving opinions. Don't take them too seriously. Don't expect anyone to help you if you just post an opinion??! Post opinions to "Rants", not "General Linux Questions"!
I hope you don't give up with Linux. Be patience, give it some time and read the fine manuals... or else, stick it into your arse. :p :D

thank you for sharing. if you want to learn something from a bunch of people that volunteer their time for no good reason ( ), then why would you be so confrontational/inflamatory/rude, etc
just ask real questions in the real forums and people are more likely to answer them and help you
if you come here brandy new and jump right to the rants/off - topic and start flaming with the "winders rulez!! linux is dead!!" BS, then why would any of us want to help you???
BTW - if you are a poser i will drive to where you live and beat you with a wet noodle until you beg me to install that copy of windows 2.1 that NGene is holding onto!! :D

Hmm... if your daughter meets the other user requirement, IQ>60, maybe there's hope even if she's under 10... playing Xbill is just so good thing that you must give her the opportunity to play it. :D

I really like BeOS. "It sucked" has to be the most moronic (sp?) think I've heard yet from JP. Sure, it could use a lot more work (which may never happen with their focus shift to BeIA) but there are a lot of developers our there working on it much like linux developers.
Overall, there are some really nice things about BeOS. When not in Debian, I use BeOS.
It's so darn fast and clean! And actually fun to use.
"It sucked" is just so insightful.

Are you guys the biggest morons I have ever met? NO Linux is not dead..it's a friggin JOKE... damn u...the sushi is supposed to be the Linux penguin... it HAS NO DEEPER MEANING, a similar but less funny example is a sliced apple (MAC OS IS DEAD), broken window, etc, but I found the sushi-penguin funnier than those.
