Installed the SuSE 9.1 personal edition from the image file on CD.

The system loaded normally as far as I can tell, except that I asked Yast to load Firefox. It found it, and loaded it, but not in a folder that I can now find to load it.

Big question is that when I type a Y key, a Z comes up on the screen and vice versa. The ? key also results in a - sign. The - key results in a ß in lower case and ? in upper case.

How do I fix this?

(a) You will find Firefox in the k-menu (the menu in KDE that resembles the Windows Start-menu) in the section "Internet". If this does not work, you may alternatively hit Alt+F2 or open a console and type

firefox

into the new window.

(b) When your keys do funky stuff, you have loaded the wrong keyboard layout. Fire up YaST to activate the one appropriate for your keyboard.

I will try this with Firefox.

the keyboard worked normally the next day after I rebooted the computer for a new session. Odd.

Thanks
