once upon a time I got sick of M$ and decided to start playing around with THE penguin.

I am a complete Linux virgin and I was just wondering if i could get some information....

Can I install Linux on my old pentium 133 Toshiba notebook with 16 mg. ram?

What are the major differences in the various brands of Linux?

Thanks

BigJoe

Hi,

I know this question has been asked may times recently. So if you search the forums (http://www.linuxnewbie.org/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=search&search_forum=1), I'm sure something useful will turn up.

Also, try distrowatch (http://www.distrowatch.com/) as this is packed full of useful info.

Yes you can install Linux on 16MB of RAM. You'd probably want to run a barebones distribution on that though, like Slackware or one of those mini-distributions.
