I'm having a problem with my mouse cursors in KDE. Whenever the mouse is on the desktop without any applications opened, the cursor looks really nice and smooth, the way it should look. As soon as I open any app the cursor instantly turns fuzzy (yep, really ugly and fuzzy) and it stays that way unless I close the app. What's up with that? Is there a way to get them back smooth? I've searched the forums without any success.

Maybe your mouse is allergic to those applications?

the problem is that it happens when i open any application. so maybe it's more politically correct to say that my mouse is allergic to ALL applications. :D

Maybe you should turn off your cursor themage. How are you trying to set your cursor theme, or are you trying to at all?

Are your other wm's clean? Or do others window managers do the acid trip cursor too?

1) Are you sure cursor changes because you open a window or is it just when the cursor is placed over the window?

2) If you minimize all of the windows, does the cursor revert to normal?

3) Do you see any icons on the desktop? Or problems displaying the wallpaper?

In some desktop environments, such as TWM, the X11 cursor themes are not recognized. So in TWM, if I move my pointer over some empty space on the desktop, the pointer appears plain. When I move the pointer over an new application, such as Firefox, the cursor changes and uses the theme specified in ~/.icons/default/. The only time I have seen this effect in KDE was when the kdestop application (this manages the wallpaper and icons) in KDE had crashed or was not starting properly. There are lots of blury cursor themes at KDE-look.org (http://www.kde-look.org/index.php?xcontentmode=36).
