oye
im trying to download suse ppc, but im kind of at a loss here. ive downloaded YellowDog a while back, but that was jsut a matter of picking up an iso image. there doesnt seem to be anyhting of the sort with suse, so what should i do here? how would it be possible for me at all to get every file in the right directory in the exact spot? is everything arranged in the uppermost folder directory for me already? thanks guys

I think SuSE has iso images available for ppc. If for some reason you need to do an ftp install, their ftp installation instructions are pretty straight forward. You're gonna need 3 floppy disks (one for booting and two for kernel modules), as well as good bandwidth. Here's the link:
SuSE ftp install (http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/lmuelle_suselinux_internet.html)

i checked linuxiso, no dice. i guess theyer not making it available (cept for the 75 dollar boxed set ;) )so im just going to forget it, ill stick with linuxppc or yellowdog. the whole thing is id like a version that wont need a macos partition on it, kind of a problem at the moment.
and i dunno, i went through pretty much all of the readmes i could find, ppc and otherwise, and i get : find site...download.....place burned cd blah blah blah etc etc. not so much distribution spacific, how would i know how to download each directory and put it in the right spot for installation to find it all? i can see myself putting one folder in the wrong spot while downloading and screw the whole thing up.
thanks guys

If there is some documentation somewhere that tells you exactly what to do, then follow that. That is pretty much the only possibly way that it would be possible, as I see it. They made the setup program, so the CD is going to have to be set up how they want it. You're not gonna know what to do unless they tell you. :)

It seems strange that any type of Linux would require another partition of a different OS, though. In anything on the PC that I've tried, I just boot the CD, and it will delete every partition on my hard drive, if I tell it to.

You could do a direct FTP install, as ch0c0b0 suggested. That uses the floppies to boot the setup program, then it downloads the files and installs them from ftp. (no cd would be used at all) Only problem with that is that you would really want to get it right the first time, and not have to re-download everything every time you reinstall. :)

yeah, its wierd. but with yellowdog it needs an existant macOS partition on old world macs. im trying to set it up on a 9500.
i dunno, id really, reaaaaally like an iso image. spending a day getting pissed for putting one man page in the wrong spot and screwing the whole thing up isnt one of those things im too fond of ;)
Thanks guys
