Ok,

I finally got my Ipod and Linux PC on the same page. I can load the gtkpod program and I can see the /mnt/Ipod mount on my linux PC. But when I try to import a song or a file it says Ipod database successfully imported. But in a Terminal window it says

"Could not open "/mnt/Ipod/iPod_Control/iTunes/iTunesDB.ext" for reading extended info.
Extended info will not be used."

Also in the Terminal window it gives this error:

File "/mnt/mp3s/songname.mp3" has zero play length. Ignoring.

I've replaced the actually song name with "songname"

I am trying to import MP3s from a mount on my Windows XP machine.

Also when I remove the Ipod and reboot it, it doesnt show any songs in the Playlists..

So where am I going wrong and what can I do to fix it?

Ok

i just created the file:
/mnt/Ipod/iPod_Control/iTunes/iTunesDB.ext

after that it let me import mp3s and I'm listening to them as we speak. It works. But there are still some bugs I need to work on. This is quite odd, everytime I work on something for hours and hours.. I get nowhere, so I finally get around to posting a message on a forum somewhere and within 10 minutes or so I magically get it working.. Something about the power of JUST posting a message makes it work.. weird.. And this has happened several times in a row now.

I am trying to get my ipod working in linux right now myself. It is vfat formatted, i have gtkpod on my linux computer, and usb 1.1. COuld you please post a detailed HOWTO of what you did (the whole thing; including mounting the ipod) if you ever get a chance. It seams to me every month or so someone has a problem with the ipod, and if someone took the time to put a howto in the howto forum there would be less questions.

thankyou
