Sooooo...
Thanks to the Sarge network installer, I'm finally running Debian as my main desktop distro, and I love it, but I'm having problems with occasional lockouts. Twice in three weeks I've been unable to boot up, and I haven't been able to figure out anything other than to reinstall Sarge all over again from the network install, discarding all previous data... and yes, this really really sucks.
Clearly, I need some kind of boot or rescue disk. With a standard disk installation, I could usually just use the install disk in the rescue mode, but the Debian Network install disk doesn't work in that way. Most install methods that I've used in the past prompt the user at some point to create a boot floppy, but that doesn't seem to happen with this network install, and I don't have a floppy drive anyway-- though if it would save me this kind of aggravation in the future, I would go out an get it.
I have a book on running Debian, but since the installer disk is a fairly new development in the debian world it doesn't seem to be much help, and neither isanything I've been able to find online.
