I'm not much of an MP3 man myself, 'cept for the occasional legal file I download.
I haven't needed a player in Linux for 2 moths. Now i do!!

So,...oh knowledgeable people in-the-know, which one's better?

TIA

I really like XMMS. Get the divx-avi and mpeg plugins and you have a program that will do all of your multimedia needs.

my preference lies with xmms, but thats probly coz ive never tried any other players (apart from winamp, but hey...), and it does exactly wot i need from it (ie it plays mp3s :) )

And u can get some pretty groovy skins 4 it, but i think the same applies for the likes of freeamp etc...

Is Real JukeBox 2.0 available for Linux? It's a great tool on Windows machines. (Much, much better than JukeBox 1.0!!!)

And besides, if you're using Real to make MP3s, PLEASE STOP!!!

Real uses the Xing engine for encoding MP3s, which is the crappiest engine in exstence. Anyone who is using Xing should move to something better like LAME or, failing that, Fraunhofer. Musicmatch Jukebox, a Fraunhofer-based product, is available for Linux at tehir website.

I'd also go with XMMS -it's easyier to work with than for example xamp

I'm using kde desktop so i use kmp3, i used grip to rip the songs from their cd.

I think the mp3 players are all pretty much the same for playing the mp3 it just depends how many bells and whistles your want!
