Hi,
I'm running Debian Sarge, sound works ok, and I'm using the maestro3 kernel module (on kernel 2.4.27).
I'd like to use the sound controls in Gnome, but when I try, the CPU usage goes to 100% for a few seconds. An example of this would be if I try to set hotkeys for changing the volume and then used the hotkeys. Another example is the volume control; when I click on it the volume is set to zero, and when I try to drag in up it immediately drops again.
So I'm lost. What do I need to install? When I used bash autocompletion of "esd" I get these matches:
esdcat esddsp esdloop esdplay esdsample
esdctl esdfilt esdmon esdrec
so it appears I have ESD installed. I'm really just at a loss as to what I should even try. I've tried setting "Start sound server at startup" option, but that doesn't seem to do anything.
I'd appreciate any advice on what I should look into.
Rob
