I have Mandrake Linux 9.1 and kernel 2.4.21-0.13mdk. I have installed the Zoran 0.9.4 driver for my Pinnacle/Miro DC10+ PCI video capture card and I am trying to capture video from an analog Sony camcorder using Linux Video Studio, the front end to the mjpegtools.

I can capture video using mjpegtools, but not audio. Sometimes I get the following error:

'Lavrec failed with the following error: [lavrec]
Error initializing Audio: Timeout waiting for Audio initialization.'

I have the audio plugs connected to the line-in port with the 16 bit, 22050 bit rate and mmap() options enabled, although I have tried most others.

Can anyone help please?

Is the line-in working? You should be able to hear it through your speakers. You might need to unmute it and set the line as the audio capture.

The line-in is not muted and within Linux Video Studio I set line-in to be for audio capture.

I accidentally played a system sound whilst I was capturing video and the sound was played back in the video file at the same point, which suggests that it isn't getting the audio from the right place. I don't know what to do about it though.

I am trying it with Gentoo Linux now and the audio comes through the line-in just fine... but, when I try to capture the video, I get this:

"Lavrec failed with the following error: [lavrec]
Error initializing Audio: Audio task died.
Reason: Error in ioctl SNDCTL_DSP_SETFRAGMENT -
Inappropriate ioctl for device."

I don't understand this at all.
I'm using the E Sound Daemon, by the way.
