Iridesce

Greetings all,
All I want is for Thunderbird to delete the messages from the server that are in the trash folder when I close TB. A novice with little programming experience, it seems to me that if Outlook, Eudora, and other mail clients can implement this, the gods of programming that contribute to this program can do this.
I have read and appreciate the discussion of IMAP vs POP, however agree that to be user friendly in this era of obscene spam proliferation, this feature, to me, appears a basic necessity, POP or otherwise.
I use and will always support each revision of the best ( IMHO ) mail client on the planet - and by the way, I have my Firebird T-shirts and hats, have purchased them for gifts for relatives and friends - so where are is the Thunderbird apparel that promotes this awesome program ?
Finally, I will contribute $25 to the charity of choice for the moderator who follows this thread when the feature I have requested is implemented - I challenge everyone who agrees to put up some money also - I know that there are many who also can't contribute with coding and can support those that can with cash - After you pledge, please update the total so that mscott can always be aware it.
Have a joyous, blessed and safe holiday season
