I'm bying an off brand laptop from a friend. It is a p5 75 w/16mg ram. He doesn't recal the brand name right off but think's it's an AT&T. It does not have a cd rom. nullHow can I load it? Can I get a distro on floppy? The system will not be duel booting and only needs to be ablre to email, print, web surf, and office apps.
Thanx in advance!

you may have several different options. Do you have a high speed internet connection and a lan card for the laptop? If you do, you could do a ftp or a nfs install. You are going to have to use floppies to get a small base system on it. I know you can instal debian with a good amount of stuff on it with 15 floppies. Once you get the base system installed, configure your modem/internet connection, download the software you want/need, and voila you're done.

Can you connect to the internet with it (modem or network card)? If so, then Debian, RedHat, the BSD's all have the possibility to do a ftp install. You could do that too
