I compiled the 2.4.2 kernel and have it as New along with the Old, 2.2.16 , on My RedHat 7 box. IWhen running the 2.4.2 kernel I now
1. Can't find the emu10k1 sound module for my SB Live!
2. Can't run my eth0 {understandable since I haven't set it up under 2.4.2}
3. NFS won't come up"invalid argument"
4. Can't start ppp0 {Do I need to reset that under 2.4.2?}
I think those are the only problems. Didn't see any errors during compilation anyway.
Thanks to Brian Jones for his NHF. I happen to have the same box as he does. Dirk
ALSO! Look out for a Linux worm! This from my PLUG email list. Check out the www.sans.org (http://www.sans.org) site for info on this dangerous VIRUS! :eek: :eek:

You probably need a few up dates....
Have you read "changes" in /usr/src/linux?
If not, do so. Then update as needed.

I've seen others mention that you also need to have an updated modutils or modules package for the new kernel to work.
