system upgrade

I am about to upgrade my p.c. with a new M/B and CPU, does this mean i will have to do a re-install for my Libranet and Mandrake distros to recognise my new cpu?.

probably you have to recompile your kernel to support new cpu

Compile it, but leave it as an option in lilo. I have upgraded several computers and oddly enough only 1 of the 5 didn't run fine.

/me embarrased :o I was not thinking when i posted this. The kernel compile bit i understand. but the lilo option bit i dont?, what do i put in lilo, I am triple booting with win98se - Mandrake 8.0 - and Libranet, but only use the mandrake lilo with an entry for Libranet.

In lilo.conf - it's best, when you finish with make bzImage, to have an additional option in there for this new image - while keeping the reference to the old one - In case you need to go back to the old hardware config.
