I have two sound cards in my system one is on board the other is a PCI.
Linux doesn't have drivers for the on board one, so I want to use the other one. How can I get Linux to use the other sound card.
I'm running Mandrake 8.1.

Disable the onboard one in your BIOS and run 'sndconfig'. I think that may work for you.

Unless 'sndconfig' is strictly Redhat. Not really sure. Probably not though.
