Ok I have win98/Mandrake 7.2 on my computer. From what I have read I should boot up to dos using a Win 98 boot disk then when in dos type fdisk /mbr.

So should it look like this.
c:\fdisk /mbr

Will this affect my Win 98???? Or just the linux???? After I uninstall my partitions should still be there right, because I want to install Debian in the partition I used to have Mandrake on.

So is fdisk /mbr all I need to know about, then my machine will be ready for debian ?????

thanks for your help.

Actually I believe you should be able to just begin the Debian install and it will detect Mandrake and destroy it for ya.

This will remove your boot manager only. I didn't need my Windows disk. I just booted to DOS and typed it in.

This will not affect your OS's. They will still be there.

During the debian install, just 'initialize' the partitions that mandrake is on and format them. That will erase mandrake and put debian in it's place.
