Hello --

Got a new camera yesterday (Panasonic DMC-FZ3) that allows me to capture images in .tiff format or jpg.

I can import the jpeg images no problem (now, anyway) with gphoto2 frontends, but cannot import the .tiff images.

If I plug in the camera and fire up gphoto2 (in FC# it's called "Photo Tool") but the import screen tells me there are no images. Actually there are 56 .tiff images on the memory card.

Has anybody seen this problem and perhaps solved it?

For the past couple hours I have been looking for image viewing (editing) software to install for this purpose but am oming up short.

THanks for any help

The GIMP will work with tiffs without a problem.

Can you access the camera as a mass storage device--as you would with a USB-connected card reader, jump drive or external hard drive?

If so, it's just a matter of drag-n-drop to get 'em onto your filesystem.

Thanks for your quick reply --

No -- I cannot access the camera like a drive ( mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/camera) I went all through that yesterday and last night -- what a pain in the arse that was. However, I would still like to get that working.

I can only access the camera via PTP. It would've been cool -- then the Gimp would do nicely -- or any image software.
