Hi folks. I've been wanting to try installing Linux for a while now, and now that I've finally got my computer working to satisfaction, I've decided to do something that could potentially screw it up. Fun, eh? Anyway, here's my situation: I've got my hard drive partitioned up sort of weird, I guess. It's a 20GB drive in five partitions. C (2GB) is for Windows and a few apps. D and F (both 6GB) are for both games and apps. E (4GB) is my MP3 drive. Finally, G (2GB) is the last partition on the hard drive. It's also the one I've been planning to install Linux on. Now, I've been doing a bit of reading here and there, and I keep seeing references to this 1024 cylinder boot limit problem. I also saw an article on mandrakeuser.org that said that the latest version of the GRUB boot-loader doesn't have that problem. Can anyone give some more details on the 1024 cylinder problem, possible solutions, and let me know whether I'm going to be able to install Linux on that last partition? Thanks in advance!
