VMware is certainly not free though some distros provide the product on the cd so you can either give it a try or decide to purchase the product which would mean you need to register and pay for it.

Check the cd for a readme for VMware or go to their site ( www.vmware.com (http://www.vmware.com) ) and register for a 30-day trial license for whatever version you have.

I have VMware on my box. I have a license for it. But let me tell you. I have my memory up to 128mb of memory.

But my box has 800 something of memory. It runs sweet.

Download the trial version and see if it works for you.

Version 3 of VMware was just released a couple of days ago. Give that one a try. Just follow the instructions at their site.
