Use laptop as extended desktop

I already did it with my TV but can I use a networked laptop as an extension of my tower's X server so I can drag apps to it?

No, I don't think you can.
But you can set it up to share mouse and keyboard calls like a dual head; but the apps end up stuck where they are. It's nice except it's fairly tasking on one of the machines.

Synergy (http://www.togaware.com/linux/survivor/Synergy.shtml) I saw this on TechTV a whiole ago, and I think this is what you are looking for, I watched a demostration where they linked a Windows XP machine with a RedHat Enterprise Linux Machine, it was amazing.

X2vnc probably does that as well, but you can't send over apps. It'd be hugely complicated to do that...

x2x does the same thing as synergy, but you only have to run it on one machine and it only works with X servers so you can't use it with Windows. It also has a bug where it crashes when I use buttons 6 and 7 on my mouse which is a minor annoyance. I'll have to try synergy and see how it compares.

Win2vnc works on windows client, and you can run vnc on a windows machine (I'm pretty sure).
But yea, either way, lots of desktop lag..
