I'm trying to get a KDE login whenever I boot up my machine instead of typing startx all the time. However, when I change my init level in slackware from 3 to 4, I get a KDE login but it brings up some god-awful window manager and nothing else even though I made sure to have KDE chosen in the box. I have tried everything I could find on the KDE FAQ at their web site. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This might not be what your wanting to do, but instead of kdm I use gdm (/usr/bin/gdm) and put it into my /etc/rc.d/rc.local file. I'm using Slack-current and havn't had any problems changing window managers.

Hmm, I didn't explain the problem very well. Basically, it's not a problem of wanting to switch window managers, it a problem of how the heck do I set up my Slack box for a graphical login. When I'm at the console after logging in, I can type startx and KDE comes up like a champ, slick interface and everything. However, to try and switch to a graphical login I changed my default init level to 4 as it said to do in a few places. Now when I start up the machine I do in fact get a simple grey 'KDE' login interface but as soon as I click okay, something other window manager pops up. It has no slick KDE desktop and has one box with some things I had never seen before. One was definately 'Checkpoint' but I know not what this was for.
To make this easier, if anyone can tell me from the begining how to switch to a graphical login instead of console, that would be cool to.
Thanks
