Each time I start pcmcia I get this error

leonard root # /etc/init.d/pcmcia start
* PCMCIA support detected.
* Starting pcmcia...
cardmgr[6658]: no sockets found!
* cardmgr failed to start. Make sure that you have PCMCIA
* modules built or support compiled into the kernel [ !! ]

Support is compiled into the kernel. I have been wracking my brain on this. You guys have any ideas?

What type of laptop is this? Some Dell's have "hotplug" removable modules which require a different configuration. Look on linux-laptops.net

its a compaq presario x1000 series and i have looked on the linux laptop sites. nothing is really aimed at this laptop. there is a gentoo build out there for it and i used it for a while but it was too buggy so i built my own. then i started having this problem

oops, i bumped it back up.

is this something that would be better posted on the fgo site?
