1: Is the freeware version of Opera adware?
2: What is Mozilla's relation to Netscape? Mozilla is Netscape's 'mascot', but why is it an open source browser? Netscape and Mozilla share icons, but Netscape is owned by AOL.

True
Give them credit. They are trying to compete with the the likes of Microsoft and AOL.
You'll notice that to two 800 ton gorillas are starting to copy features of Opera.
Support the little guys and send them a check. They only charge $15.00 for another technology. WIndows @ full price and Linux version for half.
I've been using the Linux 6.0 TP1 version at work. It handles the proxies better than 5.0 did.

Netscape release source code to NS5
NS5 becomes Mozilla
NS bought by AOL
NS6 is Mozilla with commercial junk added
