I run RH7.1 stock on my server, with two printers attached to it, a Deskjet 890C (parallel) and an Epson 790 Photo (USB).
The printers work fine from the server and shared using Samba from other Windows boxes.
I have set up both printesr for my workstation (RH7.2) with printtool as LPD queues. The dekjet works fine. The epson however wont work. I have exactly the same driver settings as the server has for the printer, yet the server prints, but whatever I try to print from the workstation it gives me a printout with the following message:
*** Unable to open the initial device, quitting.
So how can this printer work from the server (linux) and all windows boxes (samba) but when used from my workstation doesn't. I can't remember positively but I am under the impression the printer worked fine when I ran RH7.1 at my WS too.
Any ideas?
