He said HASN'T been optimised for i586. but I had Mandrake on my DX-4 100 last year and it was fine though it didn't like to load some of the stuff since I didn't have pentium-grade hardware. However, Debian might be a better idea if you don't mind fiddling under the hood. FoBoT 04-11-2001, 03:16 PM D'oh!!! http://thumb-1.image.altavista.com/image/82167547 sorry, i will stop posting, go clean my glasses and get back to work now :o BTW - there is an i386 version of Mandrake available BTWW- i agree that debian is great for playing with old 486's especially since those old boxen don't boot from cd and/or have a cdrom drive, so debian from floppies is  for that ok now back to work [ 11 April 2001: Message edited by: FoBoT-9223 ] killerasp 04-11-2001, 05:21 PM get any newbie distro. Linux supports all CPU's all the way down to x386. plus the new distros might support your old hardware. justlinux.com
