ftp problem

Hi-
We have a W2000 LAN network that is connected to the Internet through a Linux server. If we connect to an extern ftp server from a Windows station, after a successful login if we try to execute a command, any command (like ls) we always get error 500 Invalid port command. If we ftp directly from the linux server, everything works fine. Can you please tell me how to troubleshoot this in exact steps, considerring that I'm an absolute newbie :)

Try passive mode, you can select this in your ftp client.
