Is there any truth to the story that one of the early verisons of IE supported linux? If so, where can I find it? Also, would it be possible to get IE for Unix to run under Linux?

Which in turn you would run IE from the Sparc. It looks interesting but wouldn't be feasable unless you had your own Sparc on a LAN. Using Altavista, I had it translated and it seems like it some instructions to getting IE to launch on Sun Sparc running Solaris. So it doesn't seem any good. Siskmarek 01-31-2002, 01:45 AM Can't you get IE working through Wine? I seem to remember this being possible... Or was it through VMWare, which of course would work... ~ Siskie sledge_hmr 01-31-2002, 01:49 AM I think it is possible to run IE via Wine, but its not 100%. At any rate, IE via Wine would be pretty slow. jaygee432 01-31-2002, 10:49 AM I tried it when I tried vmware, works there. Couldn't do anything with it in wine, but I haven't tried for some time. mstich 01-31-2002, 11:50 AM ugh, why would you want to go through all the trouble of getting IE to work? sledge_hmr 01-31-2002, 11:55 AM I can't find a web browser for linux that works as well as IE. Konqueor is among the best but too slow. scanez 01-31-2002, 12:51 PM Originally posted by sledge_hmr: <STRONG>I can't find a web browser for linux that works as well as IE. Mozilla is my fave so far (most stable/working), but if you want speed try Galeon. It's good. Plus, why would anyone want to run IE on a non-Windows machine?? :p On the other hand, Mac OS X comes with IE for Mac, which is based on UNIX (somewhat), so maybe it's possible to port that? I dunno. justlinux.com
