hello
im new to linux so dont respond saying how stupid i am. anyway, i was wondering how to get into windows x, Gnome, or the graphical thing anyway.

i have linux mandrake.

when i type startX it comes up with an error 2 anyway.

i had this problem..then i reinstalled...i am a newbie too as u can tell...hahaha...but it seemed to work fine after i reinstalled

are you typing startX? If so it should be startx instead.

Error 2 doesn't really mean that much. Do you have the message verbatim?
I guess your graphics card might be configured incorretly. What card is it? Did the install seem to set it up for you or did you have to provide any addittional info?
