I have the disks from Mandrake 7.2, Debian and now RH. I liked the Star office suite that came with Mandrake but cannot seem to find it on my RH disks. Is it possible to cross load software? I would imagine that I would need to figure out kpackage to read another cd instead of the list that it did when it first was installed.
Thanks

The Star Office is usually on the Extras disk, if you have it. Also, Star Office is a Java written program and gives you the option to install the runtime during install, don't worry about the platform. I loaded the Star Office from my "Linux Bonus" disk I received in the mail from some cpmpany on my Windows machine, directed it to the runtime, and it ran all happy and stuff.
Most RPMS's that work in RedHat work with Mandrake. I have seen that alot of RPM's for RedHAt don't work with Slack. I don't know, haven't had the chance to use alot of diffrent distro's.

Mandrake is built from redhat, so I'm sure there are a lot of compatibilities...I don't think slack is though, so that should explain why its not so compatible.
however, go with debian and save yourself the headaches of rpms

Man, do you live right! My installation of S.O. simply told me there was no JRE, and my only choice was to accept it. This is the same I have always encountered with S.O, including 5.1, and on Drake 6.5 I spent a lot of time downloading JRE stuff, and trying to install it, with zero luck.
