apt-get no candidate

I went to install kde using apt-get, but got this message. "package kde has no installation candidate".
Ive never seen this before, what does it mean ?

Well it means that there is no package called "kde". KDE itself comes in multiple packeges...run an apt-cache search kde to see which. kdebase and kdelibs being two of which I can think of (I don't use KDE).
