Mandrake 8 Desktop Size Issue

I've installed mandrake 8 and my desktop is set to be 800*600, when all the windows are maximized they maximize to 800*600 but everything looks big and as though I was running 640*480..... also no 800*600 wallapapers fit my desktop. Help.

Try pressing Ctrl+Alt+"+" (without the quotes). Holding down Ctrl and Alt and pressing the + key (the one on your numeric keypad on the right) might change your resolution. If this does indeed fix it, you'll have to edit your XF86Config-4 file and change the order of the resolutions under the colour depth that you're using. You'll see a lot of resolutions for each colour depth, so just move 800x600 to the front. Hope this helps.
