IDE for programming

Hello

I want to try programming (C++) on linux but which ide am I to use. .. So I have some questions.

1) Most people use emacs right?

2) If yes what should I use, xemacs or just emacs (I am using gnome, not textmode)

3) If no then what do they use?

This has been asked a couple times in the past, a quick search on this site shows that most people recommend Eclipse (http://www.eclipse.org/) or Anjuta (http://anjuta.sourceforge.net/)

If your using KDE try KDevelop, nevermind did see that your using Gnome. Teach me not to read eveything :)

vim, scite are 2 of my favorites. Eclipse is great too.
