My window managers consist of blackbox and kde only. I was wondering were would I unpack the opera rpm so that it would "jump in" and install itself on both WM's Blackbox(my install is default in /usr/local) comes with netscape only...
Do I need to create a file somewhere for blackbox?
$ which blackbox
usr/bin/blackbox

I presume you are running either red-hat or Mandrake, so you should be able to install it with kpackage and/or rpmdrake if you are running mandrake.
Once Opera is installed, cd to your /usr/share/blackbox dir and edit the blackbox menu to add opera to it. If you cannot find the location of the blackbox-menu file do a "locate " blackbox-menu.

Hey thanks I found menu and opened it with emacs. This is sorta what it looks like when I found Netscape. Some of the indentation is wrong though because of the space in the message box....
[submenu] (Netscape)
[exec] (Netscape Navigator) {netscape}
[submenu] (More...)
[exec] (Netscape Mail) {netscape -mail}
[exec] (Netscape News) {netscape -news}
[exec] (Netscape Composer) {netscape -edit}
[end]
[end]
My question is how would I add opera to this? Should I basically go through and add another [submenu] (opera) and go on down the line replacing "netscape" with "opera" mirroring the netscape file entries? Also (its late here on the west coast my friend so youll have to bear with me) where would be a good idea to unpack the opera.rpm. I heard if its an rpm pack it wont matter, itll find its way into the dir's it needs to. If this isnt true, where should I install it?
Yes Im using RH7.2 Thanks for the help.

yeah just use something like:
[exec] (Opera) {/path/to/opera}
Run rpm -Uvh opera.blah.rpm anywhere.

you dont need to touch the netscape stuff.
On the last line of netscape and before the two ends, Insert a space and add this.
[exec} (Opera) {opera}
no need to use the full path, opera should be in /usr/bin, so the exec command should find it.

When installing Opera in Debian using the .deb file, Blackbox automatically adds it to the menu file.
I would be suprised if using the rpm it wouldn't act the same way.
i was at BlackBox's website a few days ago and it seems i remember there is a patch you need if you are going to use BlackBox in a computer with KDE allready installed...
