I'm in the process of installing ALSA 1.0.7rc1 in hopes of getting my sound blaster audigy LS to work. I've rebuilt my kernel to have the ALSA 1.0.7rc1 in it, but it's still not seeing my card.

during boot up, when it loads ALSA:
ALSA 1.0.7rc1 (viaXXX)

I think that's left over from when I was using the sound that was built into the mobo.

So how do i tell it to use the corect modual? What is the correct modual for a SB Audigy LS?

before you mess with alsa did you try to do a modprobe emu10k1 ?Most distros have this already for all Audigy cards

get the emu10k1 driver from sourceforge.........and the emu-tools also..............

ALSA is garbage and I don't understand why the Linux kernel people are forcing that crapola on everyone..............

there were no problem with OSS (open sound system)

LAT: that's the post that started me on this adventure.

DimGR: The sound Blaster Audigy LS card I have won't work with the emu10k1 module. I managed to get it looking at that modual and it stilll won't do anything with the card.

Check the mixer to make sure the volume output is not muted.

The audigyls driver is still under development so expect some feature not working yet:
