I'm newly converted to Linux, and I was wondering if there are any driver packages for SuSE that can get it to recognize and work with my winmodem until I can buy a new one next week.

Hooligan333 09-25-2004, 09:00 PM I'm newly converted to Linux, and I was wondering if there are any driver packages for SuSE that can get it to recognize and work with my winmodem until I can buy a new one next week. Tzar Kastik 09-26-2004, 05:43 PM SuSE supposedly can work with WinModems, but Ive never got mine to work. Have you tried enabling "stupid mode", assuming the modem is detected? SuSE tech support suggested that to me for my winmodem, but it still didnt work. tmcG 09-26-2004, 07:09 PM If the modem is based on a Conexant chipset, then search this JL for psi42's posts and he has a link on his signature to the last "full speed" and free version of the Linmodems.org winmodem tarball for use on any distro. I worked superbly for my HP notebook's modem!:) Thank you to psi42, it saved me heaps of work! blobaugh 09-26-2004, 08:06 PM you can also search google.com/linux for linmodem Hooligan333 09-26-2004, 10:18 PM Wonderful. Thanks very much, guys. My winmodem uses a conexant chipset, so I'll give that link in psi42's sig a try. justlinux.com
