Hi.

Several months ago I installed Redhat Linux on a 3GB Partition of my harddrive. It all went without a hitch and I had a nice dual boot set up with Win98SE and Redhat 6.1.

It had been running well for months, until a couple of weeks back when I attempted to change the resoultion on my new monitor, I screwed up and couldn't enter Linux. Not to worry I thought, I'll just reinstall it. So I started to reinstall, and near the end, it crashed, so I tried again. Now, everytime I try to install I get an error before I get to the main installation page, and I am forced to restart.

-I can't get into my Linux partition to FDISK it, because of the error, and it won't let me reinstall it. I really like Linux and need to find some way of reinstalling it! It is Redhat6.1.

If anyone is able to help I would much appreciate it.

Thankyou. :-)

Letting us know what the error is might help.
;)

Also, give us more detail about your system specs.

How could you possibly expect us to help without telling us what the error is?

Do we have to guess? ;)

Twenty questions?

Will you tell us if we are warm or cold?

error... ? ;)

but try to format it with Patrition Magic, maybe it will do the trick ...

and there was no point of re-installing it in the first place :) ... most things in linux could be fixed without reinstalling, as well as in windows :)

You should have still been able to boot using rescue mode, a bootdisk etc.

Make sure you reformat the partition that you're installing to. If you try to reinstall w/o reformatting it will often hang the installer. It has something to do with files in the /tmp directory, I'm not sure exactly what, but it's mentioned as a known issue on Redhat's website. Look there under 'suppurt docs' for 7.2
