Heres what my problem is. I arm running Slackware 9.1 and I have up until now been able to use my floppy drive. As of today I can't even get internet at all and my floppy drive won't mount.
I get into sudo and do a simple "mount floppy". Now this drive is less than a year old so I doubt its that. It blinks the drive accessing light but sais "you must specify the filesystem type". Now ill tell you what else I tried.
mount /dev/fd0
mount /mnt/floppy
mount -vfat floppy "not a block device error"
and all these as regular user which for some reason are trying to tell me that the floppy is already mounted which it isn't.
This would really help me out. All I have running on my main computer is Slack right now. My windows is acting like it got a shotgun to its head,(wont even open a folder, let alone the start bar, or any app, and takes 10min to shutdown after just that.). So I am running linux which I really love but this is my primary computer and I need it for work to be done and I am not getting internet. So unfortunatly I have to use windows till my connection is working again. Any help would be much appreciated.

PS. I need the drive to make an slack boot disk so when I reinstall 2000 I can get lilo working again.

have you tried unmouting the file system using the umount command? before you attempt to mount them again. also what does your fstab look like? when running umount the command syntax is like this umount < device> without the <> is a floppy device listed in your mnt directory?
